We are a small friendly, thriving Art Society with about 70 members. We are always happy to welcome new and enthusiastic members. Although we cannot teach you to paint from scratch, anyone who has attended classes or has some experience of painting is very welcome. You might like to develop your technique, try different mediums or just paint with other like minded people.
Meetings are held on Wednesdays, twice a month from September to April. These include tutor-led all day workshops, demonstrations, appraisals and competitions. In addition we have general painting sessions at which a subject is set, still life provided or just work on own projects.
In Spring there is a Social and Painting Competition (the subject is set each year). We also have an Auction of unwanted art materials donated by members. The proceeds of the auction are given to a local charity.
During the summer months venues are arranged to give members an opportunity to meet up and paint outdoors.
The Annual Exhibition is held for one week in August. All members are invited to exhibit several pieces of their work. Every member is expected to volunteer for at least 2 duties (on the door or help with refreshments).
The Annual General Meeting is held in April, when Officers and Committee are appointed. The position of President is awarded annually in recognition of their service to the Society.
The Annual Subscription of £15 (2015/16) is payable at the AGM or not later than 31st July. Workshops cost £13 per day and all other meetings are free.
