It is difficult to imagine a more inspiring place for artists. Our medieval village boasts a wonderful collection of old buildings, a magnificent Norman archway leading into a picture book village square, and the famous twelfth century Priory.
On the doorstep of the village is the Lake District and the Furness Peninsula providing artists and visitors alike, with ever changing vistas from dramatic mountain top to rugged coastline and quiet harbour.
It is not surprising then that an Art Society was founded here in Cartmel in 1966 and continues to thrive today.
